ABOUT ME

Did you know you have a microbial self? You are literally teaming with bacterial life and these have a huge influence on your health and wellbeing. An out of balance microbiome (your bacteria self) has been linked to obesity, diabetes, mental health disorders, autism, IBD, cancers and more.

At birth and just after, babies need to pick up the incredible variety of good bacteria necessary for good emotional and physical health.

I'm a mother of four children, my eldest was born by emergency caesarean and I then went onto have the other three as normal births (VBACs - Vaginal Birth After Caesareans), of my four children one suffers from life threatening asthma and food allergies and increasingly I suspect it may have something to do with the seeding of his microbiome at birth. I'm not knocking caesareans, sometimes they have to be used, but knowledge is power and if I'd known 16 years ago what I know now about the microbiome I'd have done much more to protect his microbiome at and around birth.

This page is to help parents and Health Professionals give babies the best possible start
