Regular exercise improves gut bacteria

Researchers found mice that performed exercise showed a different composition of microbiota than sedentary mice. Fit mice showed higher amounts of Lactobacillales bacteria. Lactobacillus in conjunction with Bifidobacterium enhances the “absorption of minerals and vitamins, improves lactose intolerance, has anti-diabetic effects, lowers cholesterol levels, increases resistance to pathogen infection, decreases the incidence of colon cancer and exerts anti-inflammatory effects at local and systemic levels, improving the development of a controlled and protective immune system.”
